Software Dungeon Content Use Policy

Last updated: June 26, 2026

This policy explains how you may use content, templates, frames, assets, and exports made with Tabletop Asset Creator and other Software Dungeon tools.

In short: private use is welcome, small creator use is included with the Merchant or Dungeon Master tier, and larger commercial projects need a separate written license.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers:

  • Tabletop Asset Creator exports made with Software Dungeon tools
  • Software Dungeon templates, frames, icons, layouts, and visual assets
  • DungeonDrops, preview assets, and other downloadable Software Dungeon content, unless stated otherwise

This policy does not grant rights to third-party content, copyrighted rule text, trademarks, logos, brand names, official game material, or assets you do not own.

You remain responsible for making sure that anything you add yourself may legally be used in your project.

2. Personal and non-commercial use

All patrons may use Software Dungeon content and Tabletop Asset Creator exports for personal tabletop games, private campaigns, VTT use, home printing, character sheets, handouts, and non-commercial community sharing.

You may also show your creations in screenshots, videos, streams, social media posts, reviews, or devlog-style content, as long as you are not selling or redistributing Software Dungeon assets as a product.

Credit is appreciated for personal use, but not required.

3. Small Commercial License

The Small Commercial License is included in the Merchant tier and Dungeon Master tier.

While you are an active Merchant or Dungeon Master patron, you may use Software Dungeon licensed assets in finished commercial tabletop products, such as:

  • printable card decks
  • spell cards, item cards, monster cards, or reference cards
  • adventures, modules, campaign PDFs, zines, or books
  • VTT-ready packs
  • small physical print runs
  • creator products sold through platforms such as Patreon, itch.io, DriveThruRPG, Ko-fi, Gumroad, or similar storefronts

This license is meant for individuals, hobby creators, freelancers, small teams, and small businesses.

4. Small Commercial License limits

The Small Commercial License covers commercial use only while all of the following limits are met:

  • Your products using Software Dungeon licensed assets generate no more than 25,000 € gross revenue per calendar year.
  • Physical production is limited to 500 copies per product per calendar year.
  • The licensee is an individual, freelancer, small team, or small business.
  • The licensee is not a larger publisher, studio, corporation, or company with more than 100,000 € total annual gross revenue.
  • Crowdfunding campaigns, large print runs, mass production, wholesale distribution, and publisher-level releases require written permission before launch.

If your project grows beyond these limits, congratulations, the dungeon has noticed your success. At that point, the Merchant or Dungeon Master tier is no longer sufficient for new sales, new products, new print runs, or further commercial use. Please contact Software Dungeon to arrange a separate commercial license.

5. What happens if you cancel your membership

You may not create, publish, or release new commercial products using Software Dungeon licensed assets after your Merchant or Dungeon Master membership ends.

Products that were created and first published while your Merchant or Dungeon Master membership was active remain covered under this policy, as long as they stay within the Small Commercial License limits.

If an older product later grows beyond the limits, you need a separate written license before continuing further commercial sales or production.

6. Restrictions

You may not:

  • resell, redistribute, upload, or share Software Dungeon assets as standalone files
  • sell Software Dungeon templates, frames, icons, layouts, or DungeonDrops as asset packs
  • make Software Dungeon assets the main value of a downloadable product
  • claim Software Dungeon assets as your own original artwork
  • use Software Dungeon names, logos, branding, or trademarks in a way that implies official partnership or endorsement
  • use Software Dungeon assets for NFTs, blockchain products, AI model training, dataset creation, or similar extraction-based uses
  • use Software Dungeon assets in illegal, hateful, harmful, misleading, or discriminatory products
  • use the license to cover third-party IP, copyrighted rule text, trademarks, official game content, or assets you do not own

7. Credit

Commercial products using Software Dungeon licensed assets must include credit where reasonably possible.

Use one of the following credit lines:

“Created with Tabletop Asset Creator by Software Dungeon.”

or:

“Includes Software Dungeon assets by MoriSander’s Software Dungeon.”

For small products where credits are not practical, such as a single printed card or small handout, credit on the product page, store page, description, or accompanying PDF is enough.

8. Ownership

Software Dungeon keeps ownership of Software Dungeon tools, templates, frames, icons, layouts, downloadable assets, and branding.

You keep ownership of your own original writing, characters, worlds, layouts, prompts, and assets that you created yourself.

This policy gives you a license to use Software Dungeon content under the rules above. It does not transfer copyright ownership.

9. AI-generated and user-provided content

Some creations may include AI-generated, user-provided, or third-party material. You are responsible for checking whether that material may be used commercially in your own country, platform, and project.

Software Dungeon cannot grant rights to content it does not own.

10. Larger commercial use

If you are a publisher, studio, larger company, crowdfunding campaign, or if your project goes above the Small Commercial License limits, contact Software Dungeon before publishing, selling, printing, or continuing distribution.

A separate written license may be arranged.

11. Changes to this policy

Software Dungeon may update this policy for future content, future tools, or future memberships.

Products already published under an active license remain covered under the policy version that applied at the time of publication, unless the product violates third-party rights, platform rules, or applicable law.
